Dr. Rima Weight Chart - First 32 Days

The Natural Solutions Foundation, founded in 2004, is an international NGO (Non Governmental Organization) focused on food and health. We are active and registered in several countries and a not for profit 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization in the United States. We are a private interest foundation in Panama, where Dr. Rima E. Laibow, MD, our Medical Director has established the Natural Solutions Center at the Valley of the Moon. The Mission of the Foundation is to discover, develop, document, demonstrate and disseminate natural solutions regarding health and food to achieve and maintain a healthy self, community and world.

The Dr. Rima Institute at the Natural Solutions Center offers natural solutions for discerning individuals. Some of you have heard about the HCG Weight Control Program. We are pleased to offer that program at the Dr. Rima Institute. And the first person on the program is Dr. Rima herself. Her Original Diet Experiment extended from February 19, 2011 to April 6, 2011. The Daily Blog Reports of that experiment are posted here:
www.DrRima.net/DRN-Reports.php. Please read them before reading this Continuation Blog of the Maintenance Phase and the 2nd & 3rd Rounds of HCG. Bottom Line: Average weight loss was .65 pounds per day and a "ten dress size" reduction! Her April 5, 2011 Blog Report sums it up: "One day short of completion of the 46 day protocol I believe it is fair to say that this has been the most wonderful diet of my life. I have lost 26.0 lbs as of today (What will the morrow bring? We shall surely see!), gone from a bursting at the seams 20 to a lots-of-room 10, lost more than 31" total girth reduction of bust, waist, hips, stomach, inner thigh and bicpets, felt NO discomfort or deprivation, mood alteration or toxic effects at all!"

[1] - F2F Blog Continued: Maintenance Day 9
April 14, 2011

OK, we did the HCG Diet successfully, although my inveterate experimentalism may have cost me some pounds of success (despite the fact that Dr. Eisenstein tells me that things went very, very well, and he, who has personally lost over 100 lbs, would have reason to know!).

Now comes the scary part: Maintaining the weight loss for the next three weeks following the conclusion of what will be for me Round 1 of the HCG Diet.

You see, the next phase of the HCG Diet is, in essence, a modified Atkins program: a reasonable amount of any clean, wholesome protein, veggies but NO STARCH or SUGAR. None. Nunca. Nada. Rien. NO! NO!, at least until 21 days have gone by and your weight and metabolism have stabilized.

So here I sit, downwind from the best (and only truly BeyondOrganicTM) restaurant kitchen in Panama and they are baking cinnamon rolls and rye bread and baguettes and the best chocolate cake on the planet (if you doubt it, come and try some. Everyone agrees after they have their first taste of the oral devinity of this cake!) and magnificent quiches and more.

I can smell it all. And, although every dish on the menu has been approved by me and is outstanding, and the breads and cakes and rolls smell divine, I actually do not want them.

Something has changed: I no longer desire those carbs. Nary a one!

I grew up near Philadelphia so a raisin-rich, goey sticky bun is pretty close to mother's milk to me. But I do not even want a taste!

That's some change.

But, you see, motivation is playing a major role here. I have two pounds over the final weight to bounce around in. Even so much as an ounce or two more and I have to get concerned, lest my 42 days of concentrated effort (pleasant though it turned out to be) go to waste.

If you gain more than 2 lbs during this phase, you do a "steak day": that is, no breakfast but coffee, tea or water, ditto for lunch but then a huge steak for dinner accompanied by a tomato or an apple.

We have no apples here so when I had gained a full pound (not the two of the directions) I did a steak day with a large tomato. Not a single ounce of change rewarded me on the scale yesterday morning. Not one.

Of course, Miguel has immdeiately marinated it in soy sauce. The salt retained the water and I retained the weight.

Yesterday, I did a modified controlled intake day and, what to my wondering eyes should appear but a loss this morning of a full pound.

Now I am within 1 lb of my final weight and I have the pleasure of knowing that I am maintaining, that I am enjoying my food, that I am learning about Phase III of the HCG Diet and that I am not at all hungry!

Truly, "Works for me!"

At the end of a month of break, I will be entering the HCG Diet cycle again. If you would like to be here with me, look at our Online Brochure here, http://www.lifespirit.org/F2F-ebrochure.html, and contact me at releyes2@gmail.com.

[2] - F2F Blog Continued: Maintenance Phase
April 27, 2011

My task was to maintain my weight within 2.0 lbs of my final weight. I was very reluctant to stop the HCG shots and stay on a 500 calorie per day diet because although it may be what folks believe makes sense, it makes no sense to me metabolically, nor am I particularly eager to experience the unpleasant feelings of hunger and deprivation which I fear might be part of that 3 day protocol.

I decided, therefore, to eat moderately, but not quite so restrictively and see what happened. I also reasoned that this was likely to be a common way of handling "reentry" so I wanted to see what happened.

Well, what happened was that I bounced up and down within the 1lb to 1.2 lb range over that time and then, over the rest of the 21 days of stabilization, I never went over the 2lb mark.

I cautiously began adding a bit of organic chocolate cake here and some home-made bananas from our own organic farm banana bread and the results were astonishing: I lost weight when I ate carbs or not, gained a bit no matter what I did or did not eat and, for the entire 21 days, remained within my 2 lb "bounce" range.

So now my dilemna is this:

I WANT to lose the rest of the excess weight that I still carry (about 32 lbs). I am wearing a size 10/12, feel great, look better than I did when I started out for sure, never had a single moment of serious distress, had, and have, stupendous energy but believe that I should wait a bit before starting the regimen again.

How long?

3 weeks? 4 weeks? 6 weeks? 8 weeks? I find widely varying advice and experience.

So here is what I am going to do:

I am going to go with General Bert to Panama City tomorrow for our 20th anniversary (20 years ago tomorrow I literally leaped into the arms of a stranger in the San Francisco Airport - the stranger turned out to be none other than the man whom I had refused to meet for a year and a half and the rest is personal and, if you think about it, health freedom history.

I have a wide range of clothes to wear for this trip that I certainly would not have been able to enjoy before. I will eat freely and enjoy my time. I will probably gain a couple of pounds because although I generally eat pretty prudently, there WILL be some stuff that looks too good to resist and, frankly, on a celebratory trip like this I will not try to resist it very hard. But when I come back, it will be just about 4 weeks from the end of my 46 day trial and I will start again.

Once I do, I will be blogging about it for you.

By the way, thanks to the faithful readers of this blog who wrote asking me to give them an update.

Onward and downward...

[3] - F2F Blog Continued: Day Ten, Second Round of HCG...
May 12, 2011

You know, dieting, with or without HCG, is a lot like life: there is always good news and bad news.

Good News! I have lost 37 lbs. Bad News: Only safety pins are keeping me from loosing my trousers.

Good News! I have no trouble sticking perfectly to the dietary intake. Bad News! I hit a mini plateau anyway.

Today is day 10 of the second round of my HCG Diet. The wonderful kitchen staff at the Valley of the Moon excells at producing beautiful, delicious and varied meals, two per day, of outstanding BeyondOrganic cuisine for me. It is so good that the astonishing things that are being served to other people, complete with the lovely smells that waft from them, do not even tempt me.

One big difference between Round 1 and Round 2, though, is that during much of Round 1 I actually had trouble finishing the meals on the HCG Diet Plan. This time, I have no trouble: I am satisfied but am not fighting to finish them as I was in the other period.

Sometimes I get hungry so I need to drink some tea, coffee or water, which usually takes care of the sensation. If not, I check my watch and note that it is time for the HCG.

I am doing something quite different this time: Using a twice a day dose I am placing the same amount which I used as in injection once a day under my tongue twice a day.

I hold it there for 15 minutes (I find that doing that when I am taking my morning shower and getting dressed lessens the number of times that I have to swallow the dose and answer the phone because General Bert is there on 'phone duty' for me.

At night it is generally so late that only a sick patient would call, so that is not too much of a problem.

So I am experimenting with twice the HCG but no shot. It seems to be working pretty well although after starting off quite well (2.2 lbs the first day, 1.6 the next, 1.3 each of the next two days), things started to slow down quite a bit.

I lost 0.6 lbs on fday 6, 0.4 lbs on Day 7, then a nice up tik to 0.8 lbs, 0.7 and then a plunge yesterday to 0.3 lbs.

Today - nada! Not an oz, not a blip, not a nothing. So here I am at day 10 having olst 9.2 lbs on this round (which is, you must admit, not too shappy) facing the mysteries of HCG:

Is this zero lbs just my body's way of adjusting to its new metabolic situation? Following Dr. Meyer Eisenstein's advice, I have not taken a day off the use of the HCG sublingual the way one is advised to do with the injections.

My BMI has dropped from its original obese 31.4 to its much more healthy, but still not perfect, 25.9 (normal is up to 24.9, overweight is 25.0 to 29.9, obese is 30.0 and up).

I am, it is true, wearing a lovely Size 10 suit which I have not had on in who can tell how long and I feel great.

But I hated, HATED seeing that scale not go down this morning, I can certainly tell you!

Another mystery: does the sublingual administration not work as well as the injections? Many would swear that is not the case and we'll see tomorrow and on subsequent days if that is the situation.

Oh! I nearly got: the pattern of more than a pound a day of weight loss changed abruptly when I ate both meat and tabouli salad which had oil, despite the assurances of the waitress that they did not.

Could it be that I have to regain my fat free metabolic situation in order to go back to those large (and welcome) losses?

We will see, we will see.

So tomorrow I will arise and go, then, to a medical scale [not of clay and wattles maed], to mis quot the poet Keats very badly (sorry - English Major in me - can't help it). I will open one eye and close the other (hope vs. fear) and see where we are on Day 12, after neither up nor down on Day 11.

I will mention one more thing before I stop: I am terribly thirsty today. I do not know why, but this is very much the way I felt at the beginning of Round 1. We will see tomorrow what we can correlate with this marked change. Maybe it will be an open-eye full of a 2 lb. loss!

We shall see.

Oh, by the way, if you want to come to the Dr. Rima Center, or want to send your overweight son or daughter, spouse or friend, now is a great time to let me know of your interest.

[4] - The Third Round of HCG
June 23, 2011

Today is the start of HCG Round 3... Round 1, which I began on Feb. 19, 2001, was, as far as I am concerned, a howling success. I lost more than 4 dress sizes, 26.4 lbs and learned a great deal about the HCG diet and process. The second round was about 13 days and also had some lessons which I will discuss in the next blog entry.

I now weigh 155.5 lbs. I ended my first round of HCG at 151.75, held that weight until it was gorge time and, using a variation of the protocol, decided to gorge BEFORE I began the HCG program. Yes, I know this is not the way it is done in the book Pounds and Inches. I want to see what happens. If you are tempted to chide me because it is not "correct", don't. I am experimenting with my body and want to see what the results are.

I have received my HCG supply in injectible form although I am waiting for sublingual drops to arrive. I shall use the injectible until the others arrive and, when they do, perhaps I will switch over, perhaps not. If not, I will use them for someone whose body composition I am working with them to change.

But today I am fitting better into clothes than I have, quite literally, in two decades, have my usual abundant energy, work something over 20 hours per day, 7 days a week and am having, in general, a great time doing so.

BUT my target weight is 25lb down from where I am. That sounds like something close to 46 days to me. So, starting tomorrow morning, here I go...

Onward and Downward!

Yours in health and freedom,
Dr. Rima

Chicken Pomadora Delight - HCG

[5] - The Third Round - First Day After the Start
June 24, 2011

To recap, then, I began Round 1 at Size 20+, 182.4lbs, BMI 31.4, waist 33.5"

At the end of Round 1, 46 days later, I was wearing a size 12, 10 or 8 depending on the cut and the honesty of the manufacturer, I weighed 156 lbs, having lost 26.4 lbs or a daily average of 0.57 lbs per day (the average women can expect, according to the originator of the HCG protocol), had "sinned" by eating two veggies at the same meal sometimes, stopped my weight loss by the use of experimental doses (twice as much HCG stopped my weight loss, ATP and B12 in a shot stopped it, too) but was down to a size 10 or less (I do not own anything smaller than an 8 and not many of them, so, perforce, I was wearing size 10 and 12 clothes!!!!).

I experimented with gorging first for Round 2, too. That meant that I started at 162 lbs (I can gain 6 lbs just by LOOKING at a cinnamon bun!) but, when I ran out of HCG13 days later, I had lost another 10.5 lbs, for an average of 0.81 lbs per day.

Why did I run out of HCG? Because I ordered, and am still waiting for, HCG from a reputable on line company. I am pursuing that. Meanwhile, I found a compounding pharmacy in Panama who provided it to me, quite literally, overnight.

So that, too, was an experiment. I did 13 days of HCG, not 23, not 46. I ended at a weight of 151.7 lbs, for a total weight loss on HCG of 33 lbs. My BMI was 25.6.

I used the same mixture I had been injecting in Round 1 to squirt under my tongue moring and night (thus accounting for the fact that I ran out half way through the intended 26 day protocol) to see if the sublingual route of administration was as effective as the injection route. In fact, using twice the amount of HCG, it was, according to the amount of weight I lost, more effective.

The real test of a diet is not losing weight, or even feeling great on it. The test is whether your new body composition can be maintained after the diet is over.

The good news is that by the time I got ready to start Round 3 yesterday, I was maintiaining my new lower weight within a pound or, at most 2. I could, as the literature promises, have modest amounts of carbs and not balloon to new heights (or, more accurately, weights). That was my experience between Rounds 1 and 2 and Rounds 2 and 3.

I decided to gorge before beginning Round 3 in order not to waste the HCG on days when I was packing on the pounds anyway. After all, it had worked for me before Round 2.

So I started Round 3 at 154.7 lbs, waist measurement of 29" (down from a starting point of 33.5" before Round 1) and a BMI of 26.1.

This morning I woke up with the absolute certainty that I had lost 1.5lbs. I have no idea how I knew that, but, when I moved the slider on my balance beam down - and down - I stopped at the balance point which told me that I had lost exactly --- ONE lb!

DEVASTATION! PERPLEXITY! DISBELIEF! (Did someone come in during the night, leaving all the property we own untouched and readjust the weights on my balance beam scale? Ur, no, probably not.)

Then I realized that I had been so eager to see the first day's loss on Round 3 that I had not carried out my usual routine before weighing myself: I had skipped emptying my bladder. With liquid relief, I did so and, what do you know! My weight loss registered on my probalby-un-tampered-with balance beam scale a full 1.5 lbs less than it did yesterday when I started my jouney on this Round of HCG weight loss.

My goal is not a highly theoretical 125 lbs. I have never looked or felt well at that weight as an adult. No, my goal is the weight at which my body and I have been happy together, regardless of the Mass Life Actuarial tables: 130.

Besides, I have NOTHING that will fit me below that!

So, from a dissatisfied, but hopeful body weight of 153.2 lbs, I bid you,

Onward and Downward!

Yours in health and freedom,
Dr. Rima
